Mead Maker

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 11, 2026

Mead Maker is a local-first app. Your recipes, batches, fermentation records, and cellar inventory stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them. No account is required.

Data Stored On Device

Mead Maker stores data locally using SQLite and app storage. On the web, equivalent data is stored in your browser. This may include recipes, ingredients, process stages, tags, recipe versions, active and completed batches, gravity readings, brew-log entries, tasting records, bottle inventory and movements, reminder and measurement settings, recently deleted items, import safety snapshots, and photos you attach to brew-log entries.

Notifications

If you enable stage reminders, Mead Maker requests notification permission and schedules reminders on your device. A notification may display a batch name, current stage, and suggested next-stage check on the lock screen or in the notification center, where it may be visible to someone who can view your device. Reminder scheduling and delivery are handled by your operating system.

Photos And Files

If you choose to attach a brew-log photo or import a backup, Mead Maker opens the system file or photo picker. Selected photos are stored in the app's local database. Mead Maker does not upload them to the developer.

Sharing And Backups

Exporting or sharing a backup happens only when you initiate it and choose a destination. Backup files can contain recipes, batch and cellar records, settings, tasting notes, and embedded brew-log photos. The destination you choose, such as an email, messaging, file-storage, or cloud service, processes the shared file under its own privacy policy. Mead Maker also keeps up to five local pre-import safety snapshots for recovery.

Data We Do Not Collect Or Send

Data Retention And Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you remove it. Deleted recipes and batches may remain in Recently Deleted until you restore or permanently remove them. Earlier data may remain in the app's rotating local import safety snapshots until newer snapshots replace it. You can remove remaining local app data by uninstalling Mead Maker; on the web, you can clear the site's browser storage. Copies you exported remain wherever you chose to save or share them and must be deleted from those destinations separately.

Children's Privacy

Mead Maker is not directed to children under 13.
